Imagine getting married in paradise with your closest friends and family, all while celebrating with a “wild party” twist! That’s exactly what Kelli and Hillary did for their destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico at The Cape, A Thompson Hotel, by Hyatt.

The inspiration for their wedding venue hit them like a strong margarita during a previous Cabo vacation. They were relaxing on their balcony at The Cape, overlooking a stunning wedding ceremony, and knew they’d found their dream spot. “The phenomenal hospitality, exquisite food and stunning design and aesthetics,” Kelli says, “were some of the things that drew us to the venue.”

With their sights set on Cabo, Kelli and Hillary envisioned a weekend-long celebration that was equal parts wedding and party. They wanted their vibrant personalities to shine through, so they embraced a “fun, informal celebration of our love” theme. Fuchsia and palm tree green became their signature colors, and “Disco in the Jungle” set the mood for the reception.

Planning a wedding from afar could have been daunting, but Kelli and Hillary credit their amazing wedding planner, Gaby Curiel, for making the process “so easy,” according to Hillary. Gaby helped them navigate everything from vendor selection to those inevitable hiccups (like welcome bag items getting stuck in customs – but Gaby, the hero, swooped in to save the day!).

The couple’s personalities were woven throughout the entire wedding day. Guests were greeted with a playful “Take a shot and take a seat” sign, and a custom pink neon sign with lyrics from a favorite song (“Music Sounds Better With You” by Stardust) provided the perfect photo opportunity. A custom surfboard served double duty as a welcome sign and a guest book, ensuring memories would last a lifetime – and even their beloved Bernedoodle, who couldn’t make the trip, got a shout-out with cocktail napkins featuring his adorable face!

The ceremony itself was a heartwarming affair. Kelli’s love for movies peeked through in their vows, which included movie quotes, and the fact that their brothers co-officiated added a special touch. Live music from a violinist and guitar player created a romantic ambiance, and little touches like their son’s last-minute request to toss flower petals added a sprinkle of pure joy.

The party truly got started at the reception! Disco balls and palm leaves transformed the space into a jungle disco wonderland, and a surprise fireworks show on the rooftop kept the energy high. But for Kelli and Hillary, the most cherished moments were simpler. “Standing under our floral arch during our vows and looking around and seeing almost all of our favorite humans in one place,” Hillary remembers. And Kelli adds, “Standing in the Cape Lobby, hearing the incredible live strings version of Taylor Swift’s ‘Wildest Dreams’ as we both walked down the aisle at Sunset with The Cabo Arch and ocean in the background.” Pure magic!

After the wedding, Kelli and Hillary jetted off to honeymoon in Dubai and the Maldives, the perfect ending to their perfect wedding weekend. Their advice to other couples planning a wedding? “Savor every single second because when it’s over, all you’ll do is look back and wish you could do it all over!”
