Smitten kittens from 8th grade on, Jessica and Tyler’s story is defined by a love solidified through the most formative years of their lives. This kind of love deserved a wedding celebration out of the norm. Lake Como, with all its majestic vistas and Jessica’s family ties to Italy, laid a straight path to a destination wedding complete with kaleidoscopic florals and kinetic memories.
“Italy, in general, is a dream wedding destination and because my grandmother was born in Italy, I have always felt a strong tie to it,” Jessica explains. “My mom was able to help out with any language barrier issues during the wedding planning process so that helped a lot as well.”
The couple wanted everything to be modern, “but with a pop of colorful florals.” This vision came to life through meticulously chosen decor that balanced simplicity with striking bursts of color. While Jessica admits she’s “not a DIY girly,” she creatively utilized Etsy for key wedding elements, ensuring a personalized touch to the menus, seating charts, and even adorable pet signs.
Florals played a central role in their wedding aesthetic. “We loved the classy look of white flowers, but it was so fun to play around with colors,” Jessica says. The vibrant arrangements contrasted beautifully against the lush greenery of the botanical gardens, creating a picturesque setting that was both romantic and lively.
The personal touches extended to their entertainment. Despite the sourcing challenges of hosting a wedding in a small Italian town, the couple embraced the local culture with a violinist and cellist, adding a melodious charm to their ceremony and cocktail hour. “It highlighted the timeless beauty of the Italian culture and venue,” Jessica notes.
Fashion, too, was a nod to their Italian venue. Tyler and his groomsmen donned bespoke suits from Manno Clothing & Tailoring, embodying the classic Italian style. Jessica’s gown, a timeless piece from Beloved Bridal, was enhanced by a custom pearl tulle cover, adding an extra layer of elegance.
One of the most memorable moments of the actual wedding day was their first look. Despite unexpected weather delays and a dramatic helicopter rescue nearby, Jessica found solace in Tyler’s presence. “After seeing Tyler during our first look, my nerves completely vanished,” she shares, highlighting the deep connection that anchored their day.
As for advice to other couples, Jessica emphasizes the importance of staying true to oneself. “If you’re considering having a smaller wedding, a destination wedding, or eloping, do it! We were so happy we had the wedding we dreamed of instead of the wedding we thought other people wanted.” She also stressed the value of communication and teamwork in marriage, reminding couples to prioritize each other and their shared journey.
