Annie and Craig’s story began at an unexpected encounter in Houston, thanks to their mutual friend. Despite attending colleges just a short drive away years prior, fate brought them together in 2019. A chance meeting sparked a connection, and a late-night dinner sealed the deal. Their shared passion for travel and creating lasting memories fueled their desire for a Los Cabos destination wedding.

A Celebration Beyond the Ordinary

Beyond the desire for adventure, Annie and Craig envisioned a wedding that fostered deeper connections with their loved ones. A destination wedding offered the perfect opportunity for extended interactions, allowing guests to relax and truly get to know each other in a beautiful setting. This deliberate choice aimed to create a more intimate and unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

From Caribbean Dreams to Los Cabos Magic

Initially set on a Caribbean paradise, Annie’s search was met with a unique challenge: a surge of rescheduled weddings due to the pandemic. Limited options forced them to pivot, leading them to the vibrant shores of Los Cabos, Mexico. This unexpected shift offered distinct advantages. Convenient flights for older guests and a blend of desert landscapes and sandy beaches proved to be an ideal fit for their diverse group.

A Venue Tailored to Perfection

Leveraging her experience as a travel expert, Annie sought a luxurious venue that exuded modern sophistication. LeBlanc Spa Resort Los Cabos emerged as the perfect choice, boasting stunning ocean views, dedicated butler service for each room, and complimentary hydrotherapy – all contributing to a VIP-style experience for their guests.

Personalized Touches Reflecting Gratitude

Annie, with her meticulous attention to detail, ensured that every aspect of the wedding celebrated not only their love but also expressed appreciation to their guests. Personalized welcome bags filled with thoughtful items like mini tobacco sauce (a Louisiana staple) and hangover kits greeted guests upon arrival. Themed wedding fans, custom agate table cards, and farewell handkerchiefs for a second-line dance all added a unique and sentimental touch, reflecting the couple’s personalities.

A Ceremony Steeped in Meaning

The unplugged ceremony allowed guests to choose their seating, fostering a sense of unity from the start. Instead of a traditional unity candle, they opted for a symbolic unity cross, a more enduring reminder to be displayed in their home. Annie incorporated heartfelt traditions, adorning herself with her deceased grandmother’s wedding ring and a locket containing a picture of her stepfather. This ensured their spirits were present during the ceremony, adding a personal touch.

Planning Across the Miles

While they did not visit the venue together initially, Annie and Craig ensured clear communication to bridge the physical distance. Regular meetings with their wedding planner, coupled with detailed email follow-ups with the resort and vendors, mitigated any potential miscommunication. Their proactive approach and the project management system implemented by the planner ensured a smooth flow throughout the planning process.

A Destination Wedding, Lasting Memories

Opting for a destination wedding undoubtedly impacted the guest list size and some logistical details. However, it provided an unparalleled opportunity for guests to create new friendships, strengthen bonds, and enjoy a post-pandemic vacation. This enriching experience added a special dimension to their wedding celebration.

Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Destination Wedding Couples

Annie and Craig emphasize the importance of seeking firsthand experiences from couples who have married at your chosen resort. This can provide valuable insights beyond online reviews. Visiting the venue allows you to truly understand the ambiance and feel that no website can replicate.

Furthermore, meticulous documentation through emails ensures everyone involved stays on the same page. Negotiation is also encouraged; don’t hesitate to ask for what you want to make your special day perfect. If needed, consider consulting a travel professional specializing in destination weddings or conducting thorough online research. With careful planning and thoughtful touches, your destination wedding can be an unforgettable celebration of love and togetherness.
