A humble Denver coffee shop was the starting point for Matt and Taylor’s journey. As Matt fondly recalls, “Just a simple twist of fate, really. We worked together at a coffee shop in Denver and right away we became friends.”

Their love story unfolded gradually. Taylor reflects on those early days, saying, “We spent a good deal of time together as friends which was fantastic. After a little while, being indulgent as I am, I let him know I was ready for more, and he matched my energy without hesitation.”

Fast forward to post-engagement, the couple began conceptualizing their ideal wedding celebration: one with a smaller guest count and a grander party. Naturally, a destination wedding fit the criteria, but where to go?

Taylor, a passionate adventurer, was drawn to the idea of exploring the exotic paradise of Costa Rica hand in hand with her partner. She also loved what the country represents. “Costa Rica is a blue zone,” the bride says, “which means people there live longer on average than people in other areas of the world. The quality of aliveness there was something we wanted to be infused into our wedding and, more importantly, our marriage.”

The logistical fiasco of Taylor and Matt’s initial plan of a private Airbnb wedding had them considering other options quickly. Luckily, through the maze of obstacles, the couple’s wedding planner guided them to a venue that perfectly encapsulated their vision.

“Having a planner who understood our vision so clearly made it easy to follow where she led us,” Matt remarks.

Hotel Nantipa, nestled by the beach, became the site upon which Taylor and Matt’s wedding dreams came to life. This resort met the couple’s requirement for space and beautifully combined natural beauty with intentional design.

The unique arch and the canopy of disco balls that adorned their celebration were a testament to Taylor and Matt’s intention to create joy at every turn. DIY elements like themed stickers and Polaroid cameras captured the playfulness of the couple’s union.

The ceremony itself was a tapestry woven from their unique histories and shared experiences. The couple blended traditional and non-traditional elements, with a focus on their deep spirituality and love for music. Their officiant, a close friend, crafted a script that beautifully reflected their journey, spirituality, and energy as a couple. A pool party under the starlit sky brought the festivities to a close, leaving guests with unforgettable memories.

Planning a destination wedding from afar is no small feat, but for Matt and Taylor, trust was their guiding star. With their wedding planner’s expertise and mutual understanding, they navigated the challenges, confident that their vision would manifest flawlessly. Their trust was richly rewarded, as every detail of their wedding exceeded their expectations.

Reflecting on their journey, the couple has sage advice for those embarking on their own wedding planning adventure. “Don’t trade intimacy or your vision for any ‘should’ in the world,” they advise. It’s a reminder that the essence of a wedding lies in its authenticity, a celebration of love as unique as the couple themselves.
