Both only children, Rushi and Hima approached wedding planning the same way you’d tackle a once-in-a-lifetime group trip with your favorite people: go big, do it right, and make it count. This wasn’t about checking boxes or squeezing everything into one day. This was about creating a wedding weekend that felt more like an experience you talk about for years, the kind that makes guests say, “Remember Cabo this time ‘X’ years ago?” every time February rolls around.
So instead of a hometown blur, they gathered their closest family and friends, put everyone on a plane, and turned Los Cabos into the setting for a multi-day celebration that mixed culture, food, music, and a few surprises no one saw coming.

Finding Their Way to Los Cabos
Cabo San Lucas checked every box for what they wanted the weekend to feel like. It was celebratory without being chaotic, elevated without feeling stiff, and perfect for hosting multiple events without ever feeling repetitive. “We knew only our closest family and friends would make the trip, which made the celebration even more special,” they explained. Cabo gave them the freedom to design each event as its own moment while still feeling connected to the bigger picture.
With the help of wedding planner Amy Patel of The Storybook Event and travel partner Shaadi Destinations, that vision became tangible. “From the start, we knew what we wanted, a weekend that felt cohesive, intentional, and true to our style,” Hima says. Food was a major priority, as was finding a venue that offered flexibility across multiple events. When Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos entered the picture, everything aligned. “It had the right energy, a variety of spaces that worked perfectly for our events, and a team that immediately understood our vision.”

A Weekend Designed With Intention
Each event had its own identity, starting with the Sangeet, themed A Night in Amalfi, a love letter to their engagement in Italy. Custom décor filled the space, Clase Azul bottles doubled as design elements, and the night ended exactly how you’d hope. “…Fireworks and a surprise family dance retelling our love story through music,” they say.

The Grah Shanti and Pithi shifted gears with warm, bohemian energy. Ombré shades of orange and yellow, custom handheld fans, and a laid-back daytime feel made it the perfect reset before the wedding day itself.

A Ceremony That Felt Entirely Theirs
Their beachside wedding ceremony balanced tradition with deeply personal choices. A mirrored mandap framed with burgundy, red, and white florals stood against the ocean, accented with palms that rooted the ceremony in its surroundings. Guests were offered fresh coconuts and methi na gota, one of the couple’s favorite street snacks, a small but meaningful nod to comfort and familiarity.

The baraat set the tone for the day’s joyful energy. “I decided to skip the traditional horse or car entrance. I just wanted to join in and dance with my friends and family,” Rushi says. The celebration flowed seamlessly into surprise dances from the groomsmen and bridesmaids, kicking off the ceremony with laughter and heart.

One of the most emotional moments came with Hima’s entrance. Traditionally, an antarpath separates the couple until they meet at the mandap, but Rushi made a different choice. “I wanted to see Hima walk down the aisle,” the groom says. “It was one of the most emotional moments of the day, and one I’ll never forget.” Their dog, Milo, dressed in custom kurtas, joined them as well, walked down the aisle by their maid of honor and best man.

Before the ceremony, the couple exchanged private vows, keeping that moment just for themselves. To close things out, they skipped the traditional vidaai and chose a modern exit, walking out to Forever by Chris Brown before hopping into a helicopter as guests cheered from the sand.
A Reception Full of Surprises
If guests thought they knew what was coming next, the reception quickly proved them wrong. Before Rushi and Hima entered the ballroom, a stop-motion film played, showing the couple getting ready and running through the resort. As the film ended, the doors opened and they entered live. Captured by Vellora Weddings, the moment took on a life of its own. “It ended up going viral and officially started a new trend,” Hima says.

Inside, the space glowed with crystals, chandeliers, and cascading florals. Veuve Clicquot flowed freely, tables were marked with custom acrylic name settings, and each guest received a handwritten thank-you note. Instead of moving to an after-party, the couple extended the reception itself until 2 a.m., complete with late-night bites and beer pong tables brought straight onto the dance floor.

Food played a starring role all weekend long. “Every event had a carefully handpicked menu with themed dishes and desserts inspired by our favorite foods,” Rushi explains. Custom “his and hers” cocktails appeared nightly, complete with matching drink stirrers. Milo even made another cameo, featured in one of the signature drinks at the Welcome Party. Rushi’s reception tux included a personal touch too, with the lining printed with photos from different stages of their relationship.
Planning From Afar, With the Right Team
Planning such a detailed celebration from afar required trust, communication, and the right partners. “None of it would have been possible without our planner, Amy,” the couple admits. With two site visits, countless calls, and meticulous timelines, every element came together seamlessly. The process even sparked a new path for Hima. “Somewhere along the way, she discovered her true passion for it. The wedding actually inspired her to pursue a career in event planning and coordination!”
