In a hilltop village in France with cobblestone streets, lavender-scented air, and views like out of a movie, Michelle and Patrick had their Provence destination wedding at Le Mas de Belle Combe.
“We’ve always had a deep appreciation for French culture,” Michelle tells us, “its cuisine, its wine, its art of living. Provence had everything we were dreaming of: incredible light, a relaxed atmosphere, and that unmistakable charm that makes every corner feel cinematic.”

A Venue That Spoke for Itself
The couple first discovered Le Mas de Belle Combe thanks to a recommendation from their photographer, Pascal Vo. “From the moment we arrived, we could picture ourselves celebrating there,” Patrick shares. With sweeping valley views and a cozy, intimate layout, it was the perfect fit for their 17-guest wedding.
Rather than covering up the venue’s beauty with over-the-top décor, Michelle and Patrick went for understated elegance. Soft, organic-toned florals by Emily Alarcon and personal touches (like the bride’s DIY menus and welcome notes) let the space shine. “I designed all the printed materials myself, which brought a personal and meaningful touch to the day,” Michelle says.

A Ceremony Under the Trees
August in Provence can be warm (to say the least), but the couple turned that into a charming detail of their wedding story. Their photographer suggested holding the ceremony under the shade of a giant tree in the courtyard—and it turned out to be perfection. “Not only did it keep everyone more comfortable,” the bride says, “but it also created a soft, intimate atmosphere that worked beautifully in photos.”
With a close friend officiating and the couple’s handwritten vows as the centerpiece, the ceremony was as heartfelt as it was picturesque.

A Weekend to Savor
Because they kept their guest list small, Michelle and Patrick were able to transform their wedding into a full experience for everyone. Think: shared meals, great French wine, and relaxed days exploring Gordes. They even skipped a videographer to keep things simple and instead invested in photography. “We wanted to preserve the essence and emotion of the day without feeling like we had a camera on us at all times,” Patrick confesses.

Lessons Learned in Provence
When asked what advice they’d give to other couples, Michelle was quick to share a gem: “Plan for buffer time in your schedule, especially when you’re in a place where things move a little slower (which is part of the charm). Also, embrace local culture instead of trying to replicate a traditional wedding from home. That’s what makes a destination celebration truly memorable.”
