Martina and Filippo were engaged in Santorini, Greece, so the idea of bringing loved ones back to the same special location for their destination wedding made complete sense. “Parents and friends were happy to come with us to this amazing island. Everyone loved our decision of having an intimate destination wedding,” recalls Martina.

The overall experience of planning a wedding away from their home in Italy was made far easier when they enlisted the help of their wedding planner. “It really was a positive experience. Immediately after we decided to get married in Santorini, we got in touch with Ilaria and Le Mille e Una Nozze. She found the perfect terrace in Oia and everything else we needed,” says the bride.

The couple organized flights and accommodations for their guests with the help of their planner. “It was very simple because Santorini is small and well organized,” says Martina. Without Ilaria and her valuable experience the couple says they would have had a much harder time pulling the event together. “Thanks to Ilaria, she chose the best vendors for our wedding day.”

When it comes to what the couple spent for their wedding celebration, they think it came out to about the same as it would have been if they had married in Italy. “We invited only our parents and closest friends (and covered their entire expense). If we got married in Italy, we would have invited more people,” says Martina.

They spent three days in a beautiful destination, soaking up the romance and the views. “Santorini’s panoramic views are amazing and made it really special,” recalls the bride. And the best advice she gave for couples planning their own destination wedding, “hire a wedding planner!”
