Monreale, a picturesque town in Sicily, became the enchanting backdrop for Kellie and Scott’s destination wedding in May of 2022. The couple, who met just before the pandemic began, decided to tie the knot in a location that held a special place in their hearts. With the assistance of their talented wedding planner, Barbara from Amuri – Events & Wedding Planner, their dream wedding became a reality.

The love story of Kellie and Scott blossomed during the uncertain times of the pandemic. “We met immediately before the pandemic started, and we ended up living together basically straightaway due to the COVID restrictions. It was our luck!” Kellie reminisces.

When it came to choosing a destination for their wedding, the couple’s love for Italy and their previous visits led them to fall in love with Sicily. The search for the perfect venue was made easier with the guidance of their wedding planner.

“We were looking for something intimate,” Kellie says, “not too far away from the airport and main city, and a location with history.”

Their search led them to the stunning B&B Palazzo Cutò in Monreale, a historical palace hidden behind the Duomo di Monreale. The charm of the palace, with its narrow streets, stone pavements, and the typical atmosphere of southern Italy, captivated the couple. The scenic terrace of the palace, offering a breathtaking view of Palermo city, became the perfect setting for their intimate ceremony and reception.

“We immediately fell in love with B&B Palazzo Cutò when Barbara showed us,” the couple shares.

Though the couple did make a pre-wedding site visit to choose the venue, having a wedding planner was invaluable for coordinating all the details from afar. The couple wanted their wedding decor to be simple yet chic and elegant. Barbara designed a beautiful mise en place with white tablecloths and ivory lace overlays. Transparent underplates, crystal glasses, and long cylinder candles adorned the tables. The addition of decorative elements in emerald green added a charming vibe to the overall setup. Kellie and Scott were particularly fond of the place cards, which were made of round biscuits with a sugar glaze in white and green, perfectly complementing the green-themed menu.

The ceremony took place on the terrace of Palazzo Cutò, with its terracotta asphalt and lush vegetation, as the sun dipped below the horizon. The couple incorporated a play of colors, combining the pink hues of the terrace with white and green floral elements to create a warm and intimate atmosphere.

Kellie and Scott share some advice for couples preparing for their own destination weddings. “Always follow your dreams and intuitions, and definitely hire a wedding planner. A wedding (especially a destination one) requires a lot of effort, and we would have been lost without Barbara and her team.”
