A healthy marriage is a matter of compromise and communication. Thankfully, planning a wedding is much the same and will prepare you for the road ahead. When it comes to deciding on a destination for your wedding away, there are lots of factors to take into account. You could drive to the nearest big city hot spot or board a plane to paradise. No doubt there will be pros and cons to pretty much everywhere, but thankfully, there are places that boast the best of both worlds – luxury accommodations in a budget-friendly setting.

For me, visiting the South is a continuous adventure. I always look forward to the change of climate and atmosphere, as it is so different from the dry desert I call home. But, nothing could have prepared me for the luxurious hospitality I experienced during a visit to Sea Island.

When I entered the sprawling landscape, teeming with hundred-year-old oak trees covered in Spanish moss, I felt as if I’d stepped onto a movie set. One of the four Golden Isles of Georgia, Sea Island feels like a world all its own. The community is tight-knit and the resort feels as if everyone who works there is working alongside their own family. When you’re welcomed to the property, you immediately become part of that very family.

There are several types of accommodations to choose from at Sea Island – The Cloister, The Lodge, The Inn, the Cottages or even Broadfield (an 18-person private residence allowing guests to really get away from it all). Each selection offers something unique, so when it comes to the saying, “they have something for everyone,” Sea Island truly does. For hunting enthusiasts, Broadfield is a perfect fit. For those looking for a little golf, Sea Island offers three championship, 18-hole golf courses. From fishing trips, kayaking expeditions, sailing, lounging by the pool, unwinding in the award-winning spa or taking-in the famed Avenue of the Oaks via beach cruiser, there isn’t a person in your group who won’t get just what they need.

When it comes to saying “I do,” Sea Island has venues in spades. From their adorable on-site Cloister Chapel, which opens up to Spanish moss-covered oaks and gardens, to their riverside Rainbow Island on the Black Banks River, any wedding day would be the ultimate fairy tale. Owned by The Broadmoor Sea Island Company, the assortment of backdrops both here in Georgia and at their sister property in Colorado, are perfect for any wedding away.

The hospitality, accommodations, food, venue options and overall experience found at Sea Island is unparalleled in luxury and Southern refinement…what a perfect way to start a life together.
