Allyson met Jacob in the internet age’s traditional way – she swiped right on Bumble. It didn’t take but one date for both of them to know, this was the person they’d been searching for.

After a while the couple got engaged, Allyson expressed her desire for saying “I do” on the beach. Since Jacob is from Florida and the bride’s parents also have a house in The Sunshine State, that’s where the couple began their search for the perfect venue.

“My mom and I looked at numerous venues in Naples, Boca, Miami, South Beach, etc,” the bride says. “I knew I wanted a beach wedding but I was completely open to the location.”

W South Beach was their first tour on a long weekend of venue scouting. Allyson adored the eclectic and modern feel of the property and that it was dog-friendly (something very important in the couple’s search). Just like when she met Jacob, the bride knew this venue was the one.

“Once I saw W South Beach, my decision was made,” Allyson says.

Unfortunately, not everything along the couple’s planning path would be easy breezy. Allyson and Jacob originally planned to wed on May 9th of 2020, but of course, the world shut down just over a month before. They decided to go ahead and get officially married on the original date and postpone the celebration a year.

“I ordained my mom online,” the bride explains, “and she married us in my parents’ backyard by the pool. We zoomed it for everyone to see. Jacob’s parents flew from Florida, we ordered pizza, and Jacob surprised me and found one of the only hotels open at the time for our “Honey Night” since a “Honeymoon” was out of the question.”

Luckily, the couple had planned a lot of the wedding pre-covid since they were just a few months out when they made the postponement decision. The couple’s fantastic wedding planner Carrie, along with Joanna at Gilded Group, were able to take the bride’s ideas and make them a reality.

Practically every element of the wedding weekend in Florida turned out exactly how Allyson and Jacob had hoped (excluding the rain on the night of their welcome dinner and random lady shaving her legs next to their ceremony structure).

The reception led into the night with tunes from Fusion (a DJ/band hybrid), stations of scrumptious food, soft-serve ice cream (Allyson’s favorite), lots of dancing and late-night bites from a local pizzeria!

“I think our favorite part would be just being able to celebrate and be with all of our family and friends in one place since COVID restricted that for so long,” the couple says. “It was so nice for everything to just feel normal for a day.”
