When love finds its way into the heart, it crafts a story that’s meant to be celebrated. Morgan and Joey, whose journey began in the hallowed halls of high school, took their love to new heights as they embarked on a beautiful journey of their own – a journey that culminated in a breathtaking destination wedding in their hometown, Scottsdale, Arizona.

Morgan and Joey’s love story is as heartwarming as it is timeless. “Joey and I met when we were 17 years old during our senior year of high school through mutual friends,” Morgan fondly recalls. Their journey from classmates to soulmates blossomed over time, and they officially became a couple in January 2011. “We’ve been together ever since,” the bride adds.

Choosing the perfect location for their wedding was an easy decision for the couple. “We chose to have our wedding in Scottsdale, Arizona, which is where we are both from,” Morgan explains. “While we don’t live in Scottsdale anymore, we knew we wanted to get married in a place that means so much to both of us, and what better location than our hometown.”

The picturesque desert landscape of Scottsdale provided the ideal backdrop for their big day. Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North became the canvas upon which Morgan and Joey painted their wedding dreams. “We’ve always known about the Four Seasons, but hadn’t spent much time up there,” Morgan shares. “It was the first (and only!) venue we ever looked at. We wanted a venue that embodies who we are as a couple – the Four Seasons really offers the perfect blend of organic, desert elements with an elevated feel.”

The decor and extras at Morgan and Joey’s wedding were a true reflection of their love story. The couple aimed for a classic black-and-white palette with gold accents, creating an atmosphere that was both simple and timeless. From elegant tablescapes adorned with flickering candles to a dazzling cake adorned with hints of gold, every detail exuded elegance.

One unique feature that caught everyone’s eye was the champagne wall – a shelving display adorned with glasses of champagne for each guest, doubling as a creative seating chart. “The champagne wall was one of our favorite features,” Morgan says. “Each glass had a drink tag with the person’s name and their table number so guests would find their name and grab their glass to take to their seats.” This innovative touch added an air of sophistication to the occasion.

The couple’s artistic flair extended to even more special elements. A live painter captured the scene of their ceremony as they exchanged vows – a heartfelt surprise arranged by Morgan’s sister-in-law. The brushstrokes of the artist immortalized their love in a unique and unforgettable way.

Music also played a pivotal role in the celebration, with Morgan’s family band, Miles 2 Go, serenading the guests with their soulful tunes. “Having my aunt, uncle, and cousin play a few songs during the beginning part of our reception was so special,” Morgan reminisces. “They are so talented and it was so special having them play live for us and our guests!”

The couple’s ceremony remained traditional, yet deeply personal. With their close friend officiating the wedding – a friend who had known them individually before they were a couple – the ceremony held a unique and intimate touch. Exchanging personal vows in front of their loved ones was a poignant moment, showcasing their journey and commitment to each other.

Planning a destination wedding from afar is no small feat, but Morgan and Joey managed it with grace. Frequent FaceTime sessions with their family, coupled with the support of their parents and siblings who lived in Arizona, helped bridge the gap. Their wedding planner also played a pivotal role, making the long-distance planning process surprisingly smooth. “Our wedding planner was a lifesaver in the process,” Morgan says. “She was incredibly helpful, especially in the times when we couldn’t be there.”

As the sun set over the desert landscape, Morgan and Joey’s love story continued to unfold, leaving an indelible mark on their cherished memories. Their advice to couples embarking on their own wedding journey? “Enjoy the process,” the couple encourages. “Prioritize the parts of the wedding that are the most important to you and your partner, and focus on those. The rest will fall into place as it should.”

Against the backdrop of the desert’s golden hues, Morgan and Joey wrote a new chapter in their love story, reminding us all that love, when nurtured, grows stronger with time, and its beauty shines brightest when surrounded by the warmth of family and friends.
