Some love stories begin with a single image. For Rosie, it was a photo she stumbled across on Match.com in 2010, a snapshot of Josh laughing with his three children. In that moment, she felt something she couldn’t quite articulate: a quiet, unmistakable feeling that she was looking at her future. After founding Sugarfina together, getting engaged twice, and having one unforgettable wedding weekend (complete with a yacht day) in Cabo San Lucas, that feeling has only deepened.

The Love Story

Rosie reached out to Josh on Match.com, and from their very first date, the connection felt effortless, as though they had known each other forever. When she eventually met his three children, she fell for them just as quickly. “It still amazes me that one moment led me to both the love of my life and my future family,” she says.

Their path to the altar was wonderfully unhurried. Josh proposed for the first time in 2013 during a magical trip to Marrakesh, which led to an immediate “Yes.” But life had grand plans: the couple was deep in the launch of Sugarfina, their wildly successful luxury candy brand, and between global travel and opening boutiques around the world, wedding planning kept getting postponed. By the time they exited Sugarfina in 2019, most of their friends simply assumed they were already married.

The second proposal came in April 2024, at sunrise on the playa at Burning Man, one of their most beloved places on Earth. “It was just the two of us in that vast, otherworldly landscape,” Rosie recalls. Their wedding photographer, a fellow Burner, was there to capture it all. “It felt like something out of a dream.”

A Destination That Feels Like Home

Los Cabos holds a special place in this couple’s heart: it was the destination of their very first vacation together back in 2010, and they’ve returned nearly every year since. Choosing it for their wedding felt less like a decision and more like a homecoming. Its proximity to Los Angeles, where most of their guests live, made it a rare destination that felt both adventurous and genuinely accessible.

The venue was equally serendipitous. Rosie and Josh first discovered Acre Resort in 2015 and had been devoted fans ever since, dining there with friends and family, quietly dreaming about what it might be like to celebrate there someday. When a site visit revealed that Acre was opening a brand-new event space, Los Agaves, the couple was immediately smitten. The lush desert landscape, with its towering cacti and warm, earthy textures, slotted perfectly into the aesthetic they had in mind.

Desert Sunset: The Vision

With their Burning Man proposal as the emotional anchor, Rosie and Josh drew their entire design palette from the colors of a desert sunrise. Working closely with the Bliss Events team, they translated that vision into a warm, dreamy world of peach, blush, copper, and champagne, luxurious and elevated, yet organic and deeply personal.

Florals played a starring role throughout. Given that Rosie’s name is, fittingly, a flower, blooms were woven into every corner of the celebration: cascading from above, arranged in individual terracotta bud vases along the escort card wall (one for each of the 105 guests), and of course, threaded through her bridal bouquet. Her ceremony gown featured a delicate rosette detail, and she wore a floral pin in her hair. Florist Cristina G even managed the seemingly impossible, sourcing Rosie’s favorite flower, dahlias, despite them being out of season. “Seeing them in my bouquet and scattered throughout the arrangements made my heart so happy,” Rosie says.

The paper goods were pure Rosie. A self-described paper nerd, she designed the entire suite herself, including invitation sets, menus, welcome bag materials, custom matchbooks, and place cards, all printed on thick, luxurious stock with a combination of letterpress and foil. “Every piece felt so personal,” she says. “It was a small splurge, but one that brought me so much joy.”

Three Days of Celebration

Rather than a single evening, Rosie and Josh chose to give their guests and themselves a full long weekend. It was one of the best decisions they made. By the time the wedding day arrived, friendships had already formed across their different social circles, and the celebration felt genuinely relaxed and joyful.

The day before the wedding, guests were whisked out on a private yacht excursion through the Sea of Cortez, cruising past the iconic Arch of Cabo with plenty of time for swimming, snorkeling, and bold leaps off the top deck. “It was one of those golden afternoons that felt both adventurous and totally serene,” Rosie recalls.

On the morning of the wedding, the couple made one spontaneous, inspired call: they pushed all the 8-top tables together into long communal tables of sixteen. The effect was electric. The reception became less of a formal dinner and more of a lively, intimate dinner party, the exact atmosphere they had always envisioned.

The Ceremony

The ceremony beautifully wove together both of their heritages. The couple stood beneath a chuppah in honor of Josh’s Jewish roots, while an Irish handfasting ritual, a nod to Rosie’s background, symbolized the joining of their two traditions and two families into one. Most meaningfully, Josh’s daughter Natasha and Rosie’s sister Cat served as co-officiants. “It instantly set the tone for a ceremony rooted in love and family,” Rosie says. “We felt completely at ease with them guiding us through every moment.”

The Table

Acre’s celebrated kitchen inspired the couple to serve the entire reception meal family style, with guests passing dishes across the table, a choice that encouraged conversation, connection, and a convivial warmth that matched the evening’s energy perfectly.

Two signature cocktails set the tone on arrival: Josh’s, a bright blend of pineapple and coconut; Rosie’s, a smoky mezcal with rosewater and hibiscus. Both were garnished with edible flowers and echoed the warm tones of the desert sunset palette.

And then there was the piñata. As co-founders of Sugarfina, the luxury candy brand beloved for its Champagne Bears and whimsical wedding favors, it was only fitting that Rosie and Josh skip the traditional wedding cake entirely. In its place: a piñata stuffed with candy, lottery tickets, $2 bills, lip gloss, and playful surprises. “It was a joyful, candy-filled nod to our journey together,” Rosie says, “and a moment our guests are still talking about.”

The Fashion

For her ceremony, Rosie wore the SAINT Bridal Couture “Ophelia” gown, structured and sculptural yet soft and ethereal, with a rosette detail that felt like a nod to both her name and her lifelong love of flowers. She paired it with Jimmy Choo “Sacaria Tulle Pearly Ankle-Strap Sandals” and Verstolo “Chelsea” earrings, purchased from Lovely Bride in West Hollywood.

The reception dress came with a story of its own. Just three days before flying to Cabo, Rosie had a sudden change of heart; she wanted something long, strapless, and more dramatic. Her sister, Cat, managed to track down two stunning options in under 48 hours. Rosie waited until the morning of the wedding, slipped into both in front of her bridal party, and the winner was instantly obvious: a vintage Vivienne Westwood column gown in white sequins, rented from Albright Fashion Library, the very same gown once worn by Megan Fox at the People’s Choice Awards. “The dress made me feel like a movie star,” she says. She completed the look with Aquazzurra silver “Latour Sandals.”

Josh looked impeccably sharp in a Todd Snyder tuxedo. Co-officiant Natasha wore a copper Reformation Daniela gown, and Cat wore a champagne-colored Halston gown, both perfectly tuned to the desert sunset palette.

Planning Advice from the Couple

Rosie’s advice to destination couples is simple: trust your team, and know your venue before you arrive. “Having already fallen in love with Acre took so much guesswork out of planning from afar,” she says. “And having complete trust in the Bliss Events team meant we could stay focused on enjoying the process and each other.”

She’d also strongly encourage turning a destination wedding into a full weekend. “By the time the reception arrived, we felt so relaxed and present. We’d already had real, meaningful time with every person we love. The wedding day itself felt completely joyful, not rushed.”
