In Telluride, Colorado, on a sunny September day, Kira and Rob exchanged vows surrounded by breathtaking mountain vistas at San Sophia Overlook. The couple’s love story, the scenic location, and the intimate details made their wedding a truly unique experience.

The couple first crossed paths on the digital landscape of Bumble. Kira was drawn to Rob’s infectious smile and outdoor adventures captured in his pictures. Recalling their first date, Kira says, “I knew this was going to be something big right on our first date. We were pretty much inseparable after that. In the truest sense, I felt like I met my other half.”

Choosing to embark on the journey of marriage with a destination wedding, Kira and Rob aimed to keep things as low-key and stress-free as possible. The couple initially contemplated eloping but couldn’t imagine the celebration without close family and friends. Kira shares, “The destination wedding route felt like us and aligned with our values of keeping the day casual.”

Telluride, with its majestic mountains and accessible gondolas, provided the perfect backdrop for their celebration. Kira and Rob, both avid backpackers and hikers, wanted to incorporate nature into their special day while ensuring accessibility for older family members. The gondolas turned out to be a hit among the guests, adding an extra element of fun to the festivities.

The ceremony took place at San Sophia Overlook, where Kira’s sister officiated, standing in the aisle alongside the couple. The unconventional setup created a casual and intimate atmosphere that truly reflected the couple’s personality. A sand/rock ceremony was incorporated to symbolize their connection with nature, adding a unique touch to the proceedings.

The decor and extras embraced the boho mountain vibes of Telluride, with DIY dried grass arrangements and a focus on simplicity. Kira and Rob prioritized each other, ensuring they had moments to cherish amid the celebration. Kira recalls a particularly special moment, saying, “Between the ceremony and reception, we had everyone leave us up at the overlook with a glass of champagne. It ended up being a really special moment, one of my favorites of the day.”

Planning a wedding from afar has its challenges, but a pre-wedding visit and the assistance of the venue and day-of coordinators eased the process. Kira shares, “The venue helped with any other questions we had, and our day-of coordinators were familiar with the venue and area and helped a lot.”

Reflecting on the day, Kira offers advice to future couples, emphasizing the importance of focusing on what truly matters. “None of it really matters,” she says. “Little things went wrong throughout the day, and I hardly noticed. We made the day about us, and I have no regrets.”

Kira and Rob’s Telluride destination wedding was a testament to their love, the beauty of nature, and the joy of celebrating in a way that truly reflected their personalities.
