Chloe and Marcus fell in love with the Old Glory Ranch and knew that a Texas destination wedding would be perfect for them. A family friend found the venue and the couple was instantly hooked. “We loved the location and the small town it was in,” says the couple. Seeing how most of the family is from the UK, a destination wedding was a great chance to have a weekend away with the family.
Luckily everyone had a positive response to the couple’s destination wedding. Who doesn’t love tea, bagpipes and miniature donkeys. This wedding had it all! The Old Glory Ranch is home to The Republican Donkey Company and donkeys were used in the wedding celebration. The donkeys were dressed in flowers and just made for the cutest pictures.
One thing the couple worried about was the threat of crazy weather in Texas. “We did have concerns about flooding but were reassured that it wouldn’t be an issue,” says the couple. Come W-Day, the skies were blue, the ground was dry and there were no problems.
Planning a destination wedding does come with challenges though. “It was tough at times especially having to drive out for meetings, however, it was fun to get away and explore Wimberley,” say the newlyweds. The couple relied on many phone calls and emails. They didn’t have any issues but they did put in a lot of hard work for their big day.
The couple and their guests didn’t run into any logistical problems either as the family all drove out together. “Other guests made it a weekend away and loved it,” say the couple.
The ceremony was inside the Chapel Hall on the property and the aisle was lined with beautiful floral arrangements. Candles, flowers and an intricate cross were the backdrop during the couple’s vows. After the ceremony, the chapel was quickly turned into the reception area and the party began.
A cute DIY touch for the wedding was a seating chart written on the glass of a door. The couple was even whisked away in a horse-drawn carriage.
The newlyweds best advice for other couple’s planning a destination wedding: just stay organized and on top of all vendors!
