When Britons Emma and Harry, who met through friends and attended the same schools growing up, set out to plan their destination wedding, their hearts were already set on getting married in Italy. So, when the couple contacted wedding planner, Beatrice of Alfresco Wedding, with the wish to discover venues in Tuscany with a minimalistic yet stylish feel, planning got off to a quick start.

“We visited Tuscany and spent a weekend with her (Beatrice) seeing the venues that she had suggested,” the couple says. “Funnily enough, even though we visited many, it was the very first one that took our hearts and we knew that was the one.”

Borgo Argiano, a wine estate, offered an elegant location near Siena. The modern and elegant decor of the property and the stunning view on the vineyards made it the perfect venue to suit all of the couple’s wishes.

Emma’s idea of a modern minimalistic theme informed every decision along the planning process, from the sleek stationary design to Emma’s stunning wedding dress. Beatrice played an instrumental part in the smooth planning while the couple was in England.

“We visited six months prior to the wedding to finalize details such as food tasting and selecting decor,” Emma explained, “We also found Pinterest a great help for inspiration.”

On Wedding Day, the early September weather blessed Emma and Harry with the crisp, pure light of the late summer in Tuscany, truly bringing the floral design to life and blending it perfectly with the surrounding natural landscape. White played the main color role while subtle hints of cream flowed effortlessly through green sprigs of olive trees and local foliage. Every other color accent was kept beautifully neutral, from the bridesmaids’ dresses to the guests’ dress code, to match the subtle hues of the exteriors of the Borgo.

At the reception, hints of precious gold shone through the tablescape, and a champagne tower welcomed guests to toast to the bride and groom. As everyone enjoyed a magical Tuscany night beneath a canopy of fairy lights, signature cocktails and food expertly served by Eventi e Cucina delighted tastebuds.

The whole day felt relaxed and blissful, with the couple and guests vowing to come back to Tuscany every year to experience the same relaxed, welcoming atmosphere again.

“We were on holiday with our closest friends and family and made memories over long weekend/week that we will treasure for a lifetime,” the bride says. “We will never have that group of people together again in that beautiful place and it was so special.”

Emma and Harry shared their advice with other couples in the planning process:

“If it is possible, stretch out your celebrations for as long as you can! The wedding day itself goes so quickly, we found it to be so lovely to have more time with our guests whether it was a pizza party the night before or a brunch/pool party the day after.”
