Arvind and Britta met at Dartmouth College in Arvind’s final year of residency, where Britta was working as a nurse in the cardiology unit. From the moment Arvind stepped onto Britta’s unit, she was struck by his luscious hair and contagious smile. Arvind, in turn, was taken by how cute Britta was but thought she probably only dated tall guys.

However, their professional relationship turned flirtatious and after Arvind rescued Britta during a particularly difficult patient case, they formed an inside joke about her persistent paging habits. On Arvind’s last day on the unit, Britta jokingly paged Arvind her number, and he texted her minutes later asking her out on a date.

Britta and Arvind’s destination wedding took place in Vermont, a state that holds a special place in their hearts. In fact, Britta grew up just an hour from the location where they’d say “I do.” Plus, the couple was familiar with the Green Mountain State from having attended college in New Hampshire.

“We spent much of the beginning of our relationship exploring the state,” the couple says.

They chose The Wilburton Inn as their venue due to its quaint atmosphere, available accommodations for guests, and the fact that they would be the only wedding at the venue that weekend. The venue’s dedicated planners were with Arvind and Britta every step of the way and were especially helpful when the couple had to reschedule their wedding due to COVID.

The couple put their own personal touches on the wedding by having Britta’s dad and Arvind build their arbor together. Additionally, Britta made a “Love Letters” box for guests to leave their well wishes in.

When asked how their wedding would have been different if they had not held it away from home, Arvind and Britta noted that they would have missed out on the picturesque backdrop of the Vermont countryside and the opportunity to share a place they love with their friends and family.

Many of our guests told us how much they loved all that Vermont had to offer and that they were already planning trips back to explore more!” Britta says.

Arvind and Britta leave readers with this piece of advice: do a photo shoot with your photographer before the wedding and invest in a videographer.

The day was such a whirlwind we had a hard time remembering every little detail,” the bride says. “Capturing all the details and emotions of the day with a video was the best decision we made!”

In the end, Arvind and Britta’s story shows us that, even amidst the chaos of a global pandemic, a couple’s love and grace for each other can be the most helpful tool during wedding planning.
