Chic Bahamas Real Wedding
This Bahamas real wedding will seriously knock your socks off. Marva Munroe, Founder and Director of Chic Bahamas Weddings and Events helped plan a stunning day for college sweethearts, Corey and Justin.
“We met Freshman year of college at Arizona State University at a party, and then found out we were also in the same Psychology class,” the bride, Corey says.
It’s safe to say these two just clicked. They quickly became travel bugs and loved seeking out new adventures together. Naturally, after getting engaged, Corey and Justin couldn’t have been more drawn to the idea of having a weekend-long wedding celebration far from home.
“We knew we wanted something out of the norm and an experience we would never forget,” the couple says.
Choosing a location wasn’t challenging. The couple knew they wanted a laid-back, tropical vibe, which led them to none other than the Bahamas. Ultimately, Corey and Justin simply couldn’t resist the idea of incorporating the islands’ pristine beaches and the welcoming nature of the Bahamian people. Luckily, they quickly found Marva with Chic Bahamas Weddings to help them pull off their tropical destination wedding. Marva’s attention to detail, designing talent, and, of course, connections to the islands’ best vendors left the couple with little to worry about.
“I researched a TON,” the bride says, “I tried to find pictures and videos of weddings held at the resort. Ultimately, once we decided on the Bahamas and hired our wedding planner with Chic Bahamas Weddings, she helped narrow down a location for us.”
Corey and Justin had time to focus on incorporating fun activities into their wedding weekend, which they say was almost as important to them as the wedding. To welcome guests, they setup an all-white decor welcome party on the beach the day before the wedding. The day after the wedding they planned an excursion for all of the guests and went island hopping and swimming with the pigs. To round out the weekend, they set up a farewell brunch to be able to say goodbye before everyone left the island.
With everything set up for a beautiful destination wedding weekend, the couple was ready to go with the flow and simply enjoy each and every element.
“We had a Jewish ceremony overlooking the water with a beautiful chuppah. We signed the ketubah in Arizona and brought it with us. One of our close friends performed the ceremony and it was perfect,” the couple says.
Shortly after the ceremony, the couple got caught in the rain while taking photos and got completely soaked. This tragic moment actually turned out to be one of the bride’s favorite memories of the day!
“It was one of those moments where you just had to laugh and go with it. Afterward, we went into the bar where all our guests were, and everyone was cheering,” Corey says.
Although their original plan was to host an outdoor reception, Plan B moved the party inside of the 23° North Beach Club. Marva and the team of vendors made sure the decor made everyone feel at home, ultimately making for an inviting setting to party the night away! Having experienced the joy and fun of hosting their own destination wedding, Corey and Justin advise other couples to make the most of the mishaps and simply go with the flow.
