For East Coast and Midwest natives, Lindsey and Nick, deciding to say “I do” by the majestic Rocky Mountains felt easy! The other aspects of planning their destination wedding would be no cakewalk (thanks to COVID), but the couple remained resilient in their resolve to make their dream Colorado wedding happen with a mountain elopement.

“We met [in Colorado], fell in love here, and decided to start our family here,” the couple says.

While Lindsey pictured a beautiful mountain elopement, Nick wanted the traditional, large celebration. Unfortunately, COVID made the decision for the couple. Lindsey and Nick then wearily notified family and friends of the decision to elope.

Luckily, they all understood and made sure the couple felt supported and loved. With the sucky part over, the fun part could commence: planning all the lovely details for a majestic mountain elopement!

“I looked for a location for days before Nick stumbled upon Piney River Ranch,” Lindsey says. “When we saw it in person, we both fell in love and knew it was the place we needed to get married.”

When the couple originally started the planning process, they had a wedding coordinator to help with all the details that accompany inviting folks from out of town. But, after the pandemic hit and they chose to elope, Nick and Lindsey decided to take everything into their own hands. That’s when the couple began selecting each vendor to help carry out their mountain elopement vision.

“Overall, a phone conversation was more than enough to sell us on our vendors,” the bride says. “We spoke with [photographer] Sarah Roshan and felt she was a long-lost friend immediately. Even with Jade of Jaded Beauty, I felt like we had known each other for years just based on our conversation and general connection.”

Perhaps the tightest connection the couple had among all their vendors: the florist (and best friend of the bride), Amber of The Terrorium Shop. Although the couple left most things up to the expertise of their vendors, Lindsey did make it a point to purchase small decor pieces and cute additions to the day.

Finally, after the stress of planning through COVID, everything fell into place. Lindsey and Nick would simply sit back, relax and enjoy one of the most memorable moments of their lives in their all-time favorite place.

“If we held our wedding in another state or closer to family, it wouldn’t have felt like ‘us,’” the couple says. “ We knew what was right for us as a couple from the beginning and never wanted to get married anywhere other than somewhere in the mountains.”
