After getting engaged Taryn and Kohl began entertaining the idea of a destination wedding. They wanted somewhere that could offer a sense of peace and relaxation for them and their guests, but one that could also bring the party to their wedding abroad. That’s when none other than Los Cabos, Mexico presented itself as the best possible location for the college sweethearts to say “I do.”

The venue Taryn and Kohl chose couldn’t have been more in line with how they pictured their wedding to look and feel. Away from the city, tucked in the foothills of San Jose del Cabo, ACRE Baja’s abundant greenery is a stark contrast to the surrounding desert landscape. 

“It gave the wedding a feeling of uniqueness and tropical vibes which are hard to get in Los Cabos desert. It feels like you are in a hidden spot just for you,” Daniela Ortiz, the couple’s photographer, says.

The theme of the wedding really took off from then on, as each design element from the bride’s gown to the small table details took on a “natural” look comprised almost exclusively of earth tones. This complemented the reception’s setting of a mango orchard featuring an inviting restaurant surrounded by verdant palms.

“Tables were filled with lots of candles and there were lights on the trees, it looked magical and romantic,” the photographer tells us. 

And, instead of doing the more traditional sparkler send-off at the end of the night, Taryn and Kohl decided to enter the reception in fashion. 

“My favorite part of the day was the sparkler entrance to the reception,” Daniela says, “they both looked so happy and it looked beautiful.”

For Taryn and Kohl, who’d been dating for a total of six years before becoming husband and wife, an epic destination wedding in Los Cabos was the perfect laid-back celebration!
