For Vivian and Viet, their boho beach wedding was the next step in going from gym friends turned lovers to happily married. On the tropical beaches of Puerto Vallarta, the two traded in their exercise apparel for a flowy lace dress and a fitted tuxedo.
Their love story wasn’t always without its challenges. Vivian and Viet shared a kiss one night at a local bar but didn’t revisit that spark until three years later when they were brought together again through friends and fitness.
Vivian and Viet are each other’s best friends and have spent time traveling the world together; a shared passion that greatly influenced their choice to have a destination wedding.
“A destination wedding not only allowed for our guests to vacation, but it also us the luxury to spend quality time with our friends and family all weekend long,” the bride says.
With the help of their wedding planner, Piper Hatfield, the couple visited Puerto Vallarta in search of the perfect venue and set their hearts on the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit.
“They fit us in their schedule and gave us a taste of their world-class service,” the bride says. “We knew our guests would be well taken care of, and that gave us peace of mind.”
Vivian and Viet enjoyed the luxuries of a resort vacation as well as the company of family and friends in a time they recognized as one of the last vacation memories they were able to have before the COVID-19 pandemic became serious.
The great memories and beautiful scenery did not disappoint as bridesmaids dressed in Birdy Grey dresses prepared for the big day with the bride.
Boho rugs led the bride and groom to a circular altar made of dried pampas grass held up by gorgeous glass vases of sand, greenery, and bleached florals. In the background whales dove in and out of the gorgeous Puerto Vallarta ocean as the sun set.
Family, friends and the couple danced the night away illuminated by candles and lowlights strung above their heads. Their destination wedding became a chance to be close to those that mattered most in a year that challenged us all.
“The biggest bonus was that we had all weekend to spend with our guests, so by the time of the actual wedding day, we felt comfortable focusing all of our energy on each other and remembering to be in the moment,” the bride says.
It wasn’t the size or luxury of their wedding that mattered most to Viet and Vivian but the mindset they went into it all with.
“It honestly doesn’t matter how you choose to get married, whether in a small setting or large,” the bride says. “Your headspace for one of the most amazing milestones in your life should be relaxed.”
