Nestled along the southeastern coastline of Georgia lies the quaint area of Sea Island, a resort island that Lili spent her summers on. Her family bought a home there in 1975, and the area holds a lot of sentimental value to her. Since she was a little girl, Lili dreamed of marrying on Sea Island.
“I wanted to get married in my favorite place,” Lili says. “It is so beautiful and unique, I knew my wedding would stand out.”
Plus, having a destination wedding at the beach put all of their guests into vacation mode, so everything could be much less formal. Lili and Jonathan took advantage of the destination as much as they could, creatively making decisions that captured the spirit of Sea Island. Twinkle lights adorned the entire ceiling of their reception tent, accented with swaths of fabric and clusters of greenery. Atop each table sat colorful bouquets, and delicate little flowers even decorated the cake.
“I tried to make the whole weekend very site-specific from the food to the decor so that our guests would have an understanding of why I love Sea Island so much,” Lili says.
Lili attributes the success of the decor choices to her florist and event designer, Kelley Revels.
“I could not recommend her enough,” Lili says. “She fully grasped my vision and added her own expertise to make it more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.”
With a team of designers, planners, and coordinators at their aid, Lili and Jonathan were able to enjoy their wedding experience, instead of micromanaging every detail. The bride even left her phone at home, putting her complete trust into their wedding team.
Also taking away some stress was the fact that the couple’s guest list was much smaller than it would’ve been if they had a local wedding. When guests could not make the trip, Lili and Jonathan didn’t take it personally.
“I think one of the best parts about having a destination wedding is that the people who really care about you will find a way to make it work,” Lili says.
The couple agree that if they did not do a destination wedding, everything would have been different. With the help of many experienced planners, and the love and support of their friends and family, Lili and Jonathan had the wedding of their dreams in sunny, quaint, serene Sea Island.
