Destination Wedding In Maine

Whitney and Matthew knew it was time to start planning their wedding after getting engaged. Since the couple lives in a place where guests would have to travel anyway, they thought having a destination wedding in Maine was the perfect idea.

The couple chose Maine not only for its beauty, but for the shared love they have for the state. “We vacation in Maine as much as we can and we fell head over heels for Portland,” says the couple. “And Peaks Island was a quick 15 minute ferry away!”
For the couple’s family and friends, it was time to break the news. Luckily, they were all excited to be traveling somewhere they had never been before. “Most guests were very excited to go somewhere new,” says the bride. “We even bribed people with amazing lobster rolls during cocktail hour.”
With the venue of their wedding set up, the planning process began. Luckily, it was easy for the couple. “Jayson at The Inn at Peaks Island was super helpful in the planning process including offering a preferred vendor list,” says Whitney. Whitney spoke with vendors over the phone, coordinating all of their wedding details, which she says was much easier than doing everything in person.
For planning the little details of the wedding, the couple opted for some do-it-yourself projects. “Ryan, a groomsman, helped design and create our wedding book, welcome sign and my mom made sheer drapes for the gazebo," says the bride.
On the day of their wedding, the couple seemed thrilled that everything turned out beautiful. The guests were able to travel to Peaks Island by ferry and, while travel was the most difficult part of the day, the rest of the day went smoothly. Now married, the couple looks forward to their future together after their destination wedding in Maine.
