A Seamless Cancun Wedding

Canadian couple Ryan and Kaitlyn love to travel, and since their family is spread all across Canada, they decided on a warm-weather meeting place for their destination wedding! As an added bonus, flights to Cancun and accommodations in Mexico were less expensive than the couple’s hometown. “Since our families are spread out all over Canada, it was truly a blessing to have everyone together for a week to really connect and spend some quality time together,” says the bride. “If we held the wedding in Edmonton it would have been harder for some guests to make it due to flight and accommodation costs, so I am very happy everyone made it to Mexico to watch Ryan and I begin our lives together as husband and wife.”

Once the decision was made to head south to Mexico, the couple tried to make the process as easy as possible for them and their guests by seeking out experts to help plan the whole event. “We had our flight coordinator offer three, five and seven day packages just in case some people couldn’t get the whole week off of work and it really made it easier for some guests,” says the bride. “We all have busy lives so it’s a challenge to get everyone together in one spot!”

After seeing the rooftop terrace at the Gran Caribe Real in Cancun, Ryan and Kaitlyn were sold on the location and resort. As an added bonus, the resort boasts lots of activities to keep guests busy like mini-golf and a waterslide. Luckily for the bride, the resort actually has a blog which features past real weddings. “…it made it really east to visualize all the wedding locations around the resort since previous brides shared pictures of their weddings [on the blog.]”

In the end, Kaitlyn and Ryan got the destination wedding of their dreams and the bride says that the planning was far easier than she was expecting. “My advice to other brides-to-be is to relax and enjoy your time planning,” says Kaitlyn. “Don’t worry too much about the little details, you’re in good hands with the coordinators at the resort. They know what they are doing and will let you know if you’re forgetting something – I felt like I was forgetting something the entire time I was planning!”
