While on a trip in the beautiful island of Kauai seven years ago, Lindsey and Nicky fell in love with the luscious greenery and the mountainous views that the North Shore has to offer. From the rugged cliffs to the serene waterfalls and white sand beaches, the couple knew this magical slice of heaven was where they would say “yes” to forever.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple had to postpone their original wedding date, and change their venue location because of some unforeseen circumstances.

“We ended up finding a new venue (which we loved) and downsizing our guest list from 130 people to 20 to make sure that we were adhering to Kauai’s guidelines,’’ Lindsey says.

With an intimate wedding in mind, the couple was surrounded by their closest friends and family when they said their “I do’s.’’

The couple’s first step was to enlist the help of a day-of coordinator. Luckily, a local Kauai coordinator, Krisy Zietz, came to their rescue, offering a wonderful list of vendor recommendations. Lindsey reviewed Krisy’s list and did her own research to find the best fit for each.

“Following your prospective vendors on their social platforms is a great way to get inspiration and discover other vendors,” the bride says.

The bride’s background in graphic design inspired the couple to include some fun DIY projects such as stationery, favors, and day-of materials to achieve a more personalized look.

The couple also made sure to add a special DIY project to include their dog, who could not be a part of their special day.

“I designed an illustration of him wearing a lei and got it printed on wooden cocktail stirrers. It was one of my favorite personal touches that day,’’ the bride says.

Because of the island’s strict Covid restrictions, a few weeks prior to the wedding the couple would run into a few roadblocks.

“The restaurant where we were going to host our welcome dinner could no longer accommodate our group of 20 people. Thank God my mother-in-law and sister-in-law found an amazing vendor, Basket Getaways, who set up stunning picnics on the beach. She was amazing and went to all of the local beaches and sent us photos and videos so that we could choose a spot. And then our caterer, Jen at Destination Events, came to the rescue last minute and organized an amazing meal that they delivered to us at the beach,’’ the bride says.

On an exemplary day filled with romance, Lindsey and Nicky celebrated their love with a small group of friends and family by their side.

For couples yearning to have a destination wedding in the future, Lindsey offers some wonderful advice, “If you’re considering doing a smaller wedding, do it!’’
