Imagine your wedding day: a breathtaking rooftop garden bathed in the warm glow of autumn, the iconic New York City skyline as your backdrop. This is the magic captured in a recent styled shoot orchestrated by planner/designer Britt Jones and captured by photographer Lorin Kelly. Their goal? To inspire couples with a fall city wedding featuring a unique blend of modern elegance and timeless romance!
The inspiration for this shoot stemmed from the grandeur of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, a New York City landmark known for its European architecture. Translated into a wedding theme, this meant incorporating nods to the old world with a distinctly modern twist. The venue, 620 Loft and Garden, provided the perfect canvas – a rooftop oasis offering stunning Manhattan views.
Instead of the traditional fall color palette of reds and oranges, the design team opted for a more sophisticated approach. Soft pinks, mauves, and plums dominated the décor, creating a romantic and intimate atmosphere. This subtle nod to the season added a touch of whimsy without overwhelming the overall NYC wedding aesthetic.
The bride’s ceremony gown, a Viktor & Rolf creation, embodied this philosophy perfectly. The sleek satin provided a modern base, while the dramatic train and bow back added a touch of timeless elegance. The reception gown, another Viktor and Rolf masterpiece, was a vision of fairytale romance. The tiered tulle skirt and high neckline evoked the image of a delicate chandelier, a detail that was cleverly echoed in the hand-drawn illustrations on the invitation suite.
Throughout the shoot, the various vendors collaborated seamlessly to bring the designer’s NYC wedding vision to life. From the photographer’s keen eye to the meticulous floral arrangements, every detail worked in harmony to create a cohesive and enchanting atmosphere.
When asked about her favorite aspect of the shoot, Lorin highlighted the unique U-shaped reception setup. The floral arch positioned at the end served not just as a beautiful backdrop, but also as a symbolic entrance into the joyous celebration.
This styled shoot offers a wealth of inspiration for couples planning a NYC wedding. It demonstrates how to embrace the city’s modern spirit while incorporating classic elements and seasonal touches. By focusing on a cohesive design concept and collaboration between vendors, you too can create a wedding day that is both timeless and uniquely yours.
