Proposing During the Holidays

It’s the holiday season! And, with that usually comes an abundance of holiday proposals. Deciding how to propose during the holiday season can be tricky enough, now throw in the fact that it’s a holiday during a pandemic. What to do to get them to say “I do?” For those wanting to pop the question this holiday season, but aren’t sure how, the engagement experts at Robbins Brothers have a few ideas:

During your favorite holiday movie. You and your boo likely have a holiday movie you both really enjoy. And if you don’t, go with their favorite movie. Plan a fun movie night complete with snacks and treats (you can get those delivered, too!) and maybe even a pillow fort? When the timing feels right (you’ll know when) pause the movie and ask them to spend forever with you.

After hanging up Christmas lights outside. Plan a day of decorating the house for Christmas with your significant other. Hang up the tree, hang up the Christmas lights, make it a day of decorating and bonding. Once sunset or nightfall hits, walk outside to admire your work for the day and ask them to marry you. Christmas lights make the perfect engagement backdrop!

Plan a (virtual) family get together. As the CDC is recommending people halt their travel plans due to the pandemic, celebrations are likely to go virtual this year. Take the lead and plan a fun, interactive family get together (dinner, cookie decorating, gingerbread house decorating competition, game night, etc.) over Zoom, FaceTime, Portal, etc. Let the family know your plan, pop the question, and then pop the champagne!

Say it with snow. If you live somewhere that usually has a white Christmas, say it with snow! You can spell out “Will you marry me?” in the snow itself, or carve it out and place tea lights to outline each letter to really make it sparkle.

Two words: pet proposal. If your special someone is obsessed with furry friends, pop the question with an adorable puppy or kitten by your side near the Christmas tree! Not only is this an adorable way to tie in their interests, but pets make great work-from-home and quarantine partners as well. Saying “Yes” has never been so precious. Bonus points if your newly adopted pet is sporting an ugly Christmas sweater.

Although the ongoing pandemic has made the holidays and proposals challenging, it doesn’t mean the plans can’t be special. With all of the ideas listed above, you can also capture the moment by hiding a camera or hiring a photographer who’s wearing a mask and socially distancing (depending on the proposal location and theme). No matter what you decide to do for the big day, Robbins Brothers wishes you the best of luck!
