Ireland is said to be one of the friendliest countries in the world. Perhaps it’s the “go the extra mile” approach to hospitality that makes the Irish so wonderful, but the beer, music, and dancing certainly don’t hurt either! Whitt and Kara were drawn to the idea of being wed in Ireland for all of these reasons and more.

“Both of our families live in several different states,” the couple says, “We didn’t think it was fair for some family to have to travel so we thought this was a perfect opportunity for everyone to travel somewhere exciting and new and for a fun occasion to celebrate our marriage!”

From the start of their planning process, the couple knew they wanted to honeymoon in Europe, so hosting their destination wedding in Europe made the most sense.

“I had previously studied abroad in Ireland in college and loved my time there. I knew it would be a country our friends and family would love as well,” Kara says.

With their hearts set on having a short engagement and an intimate wedding in Ireland, Kara got straight to work searching for the ideal venue – keeping in mind Whitt’s love of golf. During her research, she stumbled across a five-star golf resort nestled in the beautiful county of Kildare called The K Club.

“After looking at pictures of the venue I fell in love with it and knew it would be the perfect spot to have our wedding,” the bride says.

The remaining details of the couple’s special day came together smoothly with the help of their wedding planner, Eilis Baselmans, who had loads of advice and stellar vendor referrals. To keep organized and Kara kept a large spreadsheet with all of the details – what she calls her “holy grail of all things wedding.”

“We selected a package and had activities picked out so we had a good idea of what to expect and we knew what we were getting for our money,” the couple says.

Although choosing who to invite to their intimate destination wedding proved difficult, in the end, Kara and Whitt enjoyed every moment abroad with the friends and family dearest to them.

“A destination wedding makes for a very unique experience for all,” the bride says.
