Once on a family trip to Maui, a young Madison watched as a team of vendors set up the ceremony for a wedding taking place that day. As the beautiful scene came to life before her eyes, she determined that a wedding in paradise seemed like the ideal way to spend your wedding day.

“I was in middle school at the time and never in a million years thought that would actually be where we got married,” the bride says.

Thankfully, when she finally met the love of her life, Kasey, and they got engaged, he was on board with the idea of saying “I do” in Hawaii.

Although the couple would be marrying in the rainbow state, their wedding planning process was far from sunshine and rainbows. In fact, Madison and Kasey had to reschedule a total of three times due to COVID-19! Not to mention having to change a huge element of their special day.

“The original venue was still not fully open due to COVID,” the couple says, “so we ended up moving the wedding to the Four Seasons which was the best decision.”

(Side note: We totally agree with Madison. We’ve featured Four Seasons Maui in countless articles on the blog and several times in past issues of our magazine.)

Once they nailed down a date, Madison and Kasey felt long-awaited confidence about their decision to wed away from home. And as crazy as things got, with the support of their friends and family, the couple soldiered on with time on their side.

“I highly recommend wedding planning in Hawaii if you live in California,” says the bride. “Every time I remembered something, it was always after business hours at home but still a respectable hour in Hawaii.”

When the wedding weekend finally arrived, the bride, groom and all of their guests were simply ecstatic. Not only was this a once-in-a-lifetime kind of vacation in a stunning locale, but it would also be a chance to get out of town after quarantine.

On the day of the wedding, Madison and Kasey were able to enjoy breakfast, hang out at the pool with guests, then get ready at their own pace. They brought the same relaxed feeling to their sweet ceremony by the sea keeping details to a minimum, just as they intended.

“I feel like we were given a very unique perspective trying to plan a wedding during a time when materialistic things just didn’t seem to matter,” the bride says. “In the end all we wanted was to have a fun day celebrating our marriage with all our friends and family and that’s what we got.”
