Taylor and Cody met back in 2012, during their freshman year at the University of Nebraska. Although little came of it for a while, fate had more in store for them as they crossed paths again in 2018, this time at a mutual friend’s gathering in Denver. This rekindling of their connection began the beautiful journey that led them to a mountainous celebration of “I do’s.”

Choosing Love and Mountains: A Destination to Remember

For this couple, the decision to opt for a destination wedding came up organically. The allure of the mountains and the beauty of Colorado’s landscapes resonated deeply with them. Cody and Taylor simply couldn’t envision exchanging their vows anywhere else.

“We had two main criteria: a space that was big enough to fit both of our large families and a place with beautiful Colorado views,” the couple says.

The Venue That Stole Their Hearts

After hiring expert planning help from Laura of L Elizabeth Events, choosing an ideal venue became priority number one for Taylor and Cody. Enter Spruce Saddle Lodge in Beaver Creek. The location’s proximity to hotels for out-of-town guests and its rustic mountain atmosphere aligned perfectly with their vision and style.

“The wedding deck and reception were right next to each other, making it really easy for our guests (Not to mention, they were at the top of the mountain. Talk about beautiful!),” the couple added.

The Best of the Best

Due to COVID, the couple had to book the venue sight unseen… a little nerve-wracking! Luckily, they could rely on a stellar planner, photographer and florist to offer advice and guidance.

“I recommend hiring vendors you trust because I wasn’t expecting them to be such a big, important part of the planning process,” Taylor says.

A pre-wedding site visit added an extra sense of ease and excitement, although their unwavering trust in their vendors ensured that the outcome would be spectacular, regardless.

The florist, Anthia Design, created enchanting decor to transform both the ceremony and reception spaces. A dessert table by Cornerstone Chocolates & Confections became a highlight, delighting guests with its creativity and delectable treats.

A Celebration of Love Beyond Boundaries

Surrounded by the majesty of the mountains, family friends officiated and sang, while family members read bible verses, infusing the ceremony with personal touches that resonated with the couple’s journey.

Considering how their wedding would have differed had they not chosen a destination, Taylor shared, “I truly don’t know!! Our day was truly amazing, and we had the best help.” The couple’s deep appreciation for their chosen path and the love and support they received from family, friends, and vendors contributed to an unforgettable experience.

Words of Wisdom from the Couple

Looking back on their journey, Taylor and Cody had invaluable advice for those planning their big day. “Hire vendors that you vibe with and trust,” they emphasized. Their celebration was stress-free, knowing they had a supportive team by their side.
