Lesley and Christian’s wedding journey was a testament to the power of staying true to oneself. Choosing the enchanting Islamorada in the Florida Keys as their destination, the couple embarked on a celebration that reflected their love, uniqueness, and the profound connection they share with this special place.

“Islamorada is one of our favorite places to travel as a couple, and we wanted to share with our family and friends all the amazing things it has to offer,” Lesley says. “It’s where we got engaged and is a really special place in our hearts, every time we come here we are able to disconnect, enjoy each other and make the best memories.”

The venue, Islander Resort, was a natural choice for the couple, as it held sentimental value from their previous vacations. “The views alone sold it for us,” they explain. “From the second we started working with them, it was such a great experience and process leading to the day of.”

One of the standout elements of their wedding was the meticulous attention to detail in the decor, expertly crafted by planner Lyndsey Mae. From a unique ceremony arch to stunning flowers and a cafeteria cart that added a delightful touch, every detail was carefully considered. Lesley recalls, “The flowers were unreal, the extra seating for cocktail hour went incredible with the sunset, and the band was so good that I want to have another party just so I can use them again.

The ceremony itself was a breathtaking moment that Lesley describes as the “most beautiful thing” they had ever seen. The couple opted for private vows before the ceremony, a personal touch that added to the intimacy of the occasion. Departing from tradition, their best friend Seth served as the officiant, injecting humor and warmth into the celebration.

While planning the wedding from afar presented its challenges, Lesley credits the visual aids provided by Lyndsey Mae and regular visits to ensure everything was in order. “Lyndsey Mae, who is like the mayor of the keys, was able to get me in contact with all of the amazing vendors, including my photographer,” Lesley acknowledges.

Reflecting on the decision to have a destination wedding, Lesley notes, “It would not have had the same vibe and energy that the keys give. We really wanted something peaceful and away from the busy world. I also don’t think the pictures would have been the same.” The unique beauty of Islamorada provided a stunning backdrop for Lesley and Christian’s special day.

In offering advice to future couples, Lesley emphasizes “Your wedding should be a reflection of you as a couple, the things you like, what makes you both happy, and how you two will remember this night for the rest of your lives.”

Lesley and Christian’s wedding stands as a testament to the idea that when you follow your heart and stay true to your vision, your wedding day can surpass all expectations.
