When Danielle and Nolan met on a dating app in 2019, they had no idea what their future held. Fast forward to their wedding day and the couple are living happily as newlyweds. The couple opted for a private elopement in Positano, Italy, as they are both private people and wanted an intimate day for the two of them without a lot of fuss. Their families were very supportive of their choice.
“We had a couple of destinations in mind,” Danielle says, “but decided upon Italy because there was a lot to see and do, so we could do as much or as little as we wanted.”
Another aspect that drew the couple to Italy, and Positano specifically, was the romance and charm of the area. Shortly after selecting the destination, the couple found their ideal photographer in Peggy who also provided recommendations for accommodations and activities in the area. Nolan and Danielle researched many properties and ultimately found the perfect place to stay in Positano. The family that runs the hotel was amazing and even surprised the couple with bubbly and chocolate-covered strawberries upon their arrival.
“We are pretty private people and we wanted an intimate day for the two of us without a lot of fuss,” the couple says.
Nolan and Danielle wrote their own vows and did not have an officiant on the day, as they were legally married in the United States. This made their day less stressful and planning easier, as they did not need to acquire any legal paperwork. The couple went with the flow, having plans for a few tourist things to do in Rome and Venice but otherwise exploring each city at their leisure. They opted to travel from Venice to Rome using the fast rail and then to Positano using a ferry so they could see all the coastline.
During the wedding celebration, Danielle and Nolan chose not to have a videographer. Instead, at the suggestion of their photographer, they allocated that portion of the budget to rent a boat. This gave them a different perspective of the town during sunset and offered a memorable experience to celebrate their love.
Overall, Nolan and Danielle’s destination wedding in Italy speaks to a couple staying true to themselves and enjoying each other’s company. For other couples searching for the perfect destination wedding, their advice is to stay true to who you are and to enjoy the special moments.
