On a warm, sunny California day in Malibu, Isaac and Sydney tied the knot in an event that transported guests to a world much like that of Netflix’s Bridgerton series. Hues of peach, light blue and pink with pops of gold contrasting the greenery of Calamigos Ranch made for the perfect garden soiree.

With a specific vision for her destination wedding day in mind, Sydney’s planning process began with the hunt for an ideal location and venue. The location turned out to be an easy and quick pick. Malibu was only a two-hour drive away for the couple and their guests, which would still feel like a getaway without the added stress of a full travel day. The venue hunt didn’t take long either. “We actually found out about Calamigos Ranch through Sydney’s hairdresser, and from just a little bit of research, we knew it could be a legitimate option for us,” Isaac says. “Once we visited, we realized it was exactly what we wanted in a wedding venue,” Sydney adds.

To help bring their vision from conception to reality, the couple recruited Bella Vita Events who would handle the design and planning details. “Having a vision for what you want and trying to make it work with the budget you have was the biggest unexpected challenge,” the couple admits. “Fortunately, our wedding planner was a huge help in getting everything ready for the wedding day, and the day was as amazing as we could have ever imagined.”

The ceremony was rich with personal touches, the most meaningful being the couple’s “lock ceremony.” “One different tradition we did on our wedding day was incorporating a ‘lock ceremony’ to symbolize that we are joined together and no longer separate,” Isaac explained. “During the ceremony, we locked two locks with our names on them on a picture frame with the Bible verse Mark 10:8-9 written on it.” The moment was a heartfelt representation of their unity and commitment.

As guests arrived at the reception, they were greeted by a stunning display of cakes, each inspired by a different Bridgerton season. “We wanted a variety of designs and flavors, and the end result was absolutely beautiful,” the bride notes. A live quartet serenaded the celebration, performing contemporary hits in a classical style reminiscent of the show’s iconic soundtrack, further immersing guests in the enchanting atmosphere.

For those navigating the complexities of planning a destination wedding, Isaac and Sydney offer a key takeaway: “Be familiar with the area where the venue is. There is so much uncertainty when planning a wedding, so you want to be sure that you are somewhat aware of what you’re getting into.” They also encourage couples not to stress over RSVPs. “There are going to be guests who check ‘No’ on the invite because the destination may be too expensive to attend, so don’t be discouraged just because someone you know can’t attend. When you look back on the day, you will only remember who was there instead of who wasn’t there.”
