Rebecca and Joseph’s love story began 17 years ago in the couple’s sixth-grade year. Joseph asked his leading lady out, and the rest is history!
“We attended junior high, high school, and college together, and grew up right down the street from one another,” Rebecca says.
When the junior high sweethearts decided to tie the knot, they knew they wanted to give guests a unique experience and experience a beautiful destination.
“We vacationed in Charleston in the summer of 2016 and instantly fell in love with the magical, little city,” the couple says. “After exploring downtown and the surrounding area, we both knew this is the place where we wanted to get married and share this little piece of paradise with all our loved ones.”
Another benefit to selecting Charleston was the ease and convenience for guests to get to and from. Rebecca and Joseph didn’t want their guests to have complicated travel plans and wanted to give everyone the option to choose their preferred mode of transportation.
When it came to planning the most important day of their lives, the couple left most of the preparations to their wedding planners, Francesca and Blake of Pure Luxe Bride.
“Planning a destination wedding is hard enough, but when we had to overcome COVID-19,” the couple says. “Pure Luxe Bride was essential in keeping the wedding on track and safe for everyone.”
When the wedding weekend finally arrived, the bride, groom, and their guests stirred with emotion and excitement. All the guests were met with welcome drinks at the wedding rehearsal the night before the ceremony, to thank everyone for being in attendance for their special day.
On the day of the wedding, Rebecca and Joseph were able to enjoy one last breakfast before getting ready at their own pace. The couple’s welcome table displayed their very own DIY-ed scrapbook showcasing their 17 years of dating and engaged life, which guests adored.
Looking back, the couple says they made the best decision choosing a Charleston for their destination wedding, and they leave other couples this bit of wisdom.
“Our advice to any couple is to get a wedding planner,” Rebecca says. “They know all the ins and outs to plan, prepare and ensure a seamless wedding day and they deliver!”
