Renee and Sharath, who first met as classmates before falling in love, began planning their wedding, knowing that, no matter the location, their guests would be traveling from all over the world. When they imagined palm trees swaying in the breeze, a relaxed atmosphere, and unforgettable food, one destination felt like the ideal fit: Bali, Indonesia.

“We wanted to pick a fun destination where we could bring everyone together,” Renee says.

Bali’s rich culture and built-in honeymoon vibe made it a top contender, but the island’s standout Southeast Asian cuisine is what truly captured Renee and Sharath’s hearts…or stomachs.

“Conrad Bali sealed the deal with their chefs and restaurant—it was really important to us that the food blew people away,” Sharath tells us.

About nine months before the wedding, the couple visited Conrad Bali to meet with their planners from Orange Blossom Special Events and start envisioning the design and décor of each event in their multi-day, multicultural celebration.

Renee and Sharath blended Christian and Hindu traditions to honor both of their backgrounds and added another layer of meaning by wearing Chinese-inspired looks for their engagement shoot, embracing every culture that shaped them.

Renee and Sharath’s Western ceremony took place in the property’s striking white chapel. With its triangular architecture and floor-to-ceiling windows opening up to the ocean backdrop, the setting felt cinematic. The ballroom reception that followed featured a full band, a champagne tower and hours of jubilant dancing.

The Sangeet, held on Conrad Bali’s oceanfront lawn under a grand canvas tent by Sperry Tents Indonesia, featured bright florals of pinks, oranges, yellows and greens against light natural wood tables and cane-backed chairs.

Despite the hardship of planning a wedding from halfway across the globe, Sharath and Renee feel that, in part because “Bali had a robust wedding industry,” the destination’s features made it all worth it in the end.
