“Love is not about how many days, months, or years you have been together. Love is about how much you love each other every single day.” — Corey and Katia
In a world where love stories are as unique as the individuals involved, Corey and Katia’s journey is a tale of patience, persistence, and the timeless allure of Pebble Beach.
A Love Story that Spans Time and Distance
The two met over a decade ago when Corey’s younger sisters were being cared for by Katia’s sister. Despite the geographical distance that soon separated them, Corey couldn’t help but feel drawn to Katia. It was a love that started to blossom from afar, leading them through different states and life experiences.
Fast forward to 2018, and the timing seemed just right. “He never gave up,” Katia fondly recounted. Their relationship began, and it was as if time had been waiting for this moment all along.
A Proposal Fit for the Ages
On November 6th, 2020, against the backdrop of the 18th Green at Pebble Beach, Corey proposed. Katia was left speechless, and it became one of her most cherished memories.
For Corey and Katia, a destination wedding was the perfect choice. “We didn’t want a huge wedding,” Katia explained. The allure of Pebble Beach resonated deeply with them, and the significance of the location could not be understated. Corey’s initial trip with his friends in January 2020 laid the foundation for their connection with this picturesque destination.
Planning: A Surprisingly Seamless Process
Planning a destination wedding comes with its challenges, but for Corey and Katia, their guiding light was their wedding planner. “We had zero issues thanks to our AMAZING wedding planner Kaitlin Ford!” Katia says. With two pre-wedding visits to Pebble Beach and Kaitlin’s expertise, the planning process ended up being virtually seamless.
The Heartfelt Decor and Special Elements
The wedding was adorned in whites, creams, and a sense of timeless romance, a reflection of Katia’s vision. Amidst the exquisite decor, a deeply sentimental touch stood out — a pencil drawing of Katia’s late birth parents. “I lost both of them; my father when I was 7 and my mother when I was 10. My younger sister and I were adopted when I was 12. Having that picture of them meant EVERYTHING to me,” Katia shared. It was a way to honor her past while stepping into the future with Corey.
With Corey’s uncle officiating the ceremony, everything was perfectly tailored to reflect the couple’s journey. “Some of our favorite wedding day memories were having Corey’s uncle as our officiant — that was special,” the bride says.
Reflections Post-Wedding
Reflecting on how a hometown wedding would have compared, the couple imagines there being “way too many people.” If they’re being honest, Corey and Katia couldn’t imagine the wedding being anywhere else. Pebble Beach became the embodiment of their love story, making their celebration uniquely them. As they look forward to returning to this cherished place for their first anniversary.
When asked what wisdom they’d impart to other couples planning destination weddings, the couple didn’t hesitate. “Find a wedding planner that can guide you through the process,” they say. Katia adds, “Enjoy every moment…because just when it feels like you’ve been planning forever, it will be over, and you will have those amazing memories of planning the best day of your life.”
The story of Corey and Katia’s destination wedding etched against the picturesque backdrop of Pebble Beach, is an inspiration for couples embarking on their own journies of love and commitment.
