Matt and Allyce planned to start their lives together on the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii. So, when it came time to decide where to have their wedding, their beloved tropical oasis just made sense.

The couple knew a beach or hotel wedding wasn’t quite their style and couldn’t deny their love with the idea of tying the knot at a private residence. However, it was going to be a challenge to navigate the various county laws for obtaining a home wedding license. Thankfully, the two didn’t go it alone.

“We found our wonderful event planner who has worked with a family who rents out their home for events. She is the designated event planner to that property,” the bride says.

The beautiful home their wedding planner set aside for them was nestled in the town of Ka Hale Olinda.

Family and friends of the couple were simply thrilled to make a mini Maui vacation out of the special day. And, with the help of Matt and Allyce, getting to the island was easy for guests.

The couple says, “We gave the wedding date and asked our guests to be there on that day and left it up to them on which days they wanted to stay before or after the wedding.”

On the day of the ceremony, the island atmosphere was fun and relaxed.  The groom set the tone, appearing with a unique boutonniere made out of a baby pineapple.

The duo even brought their handmade corn hole boards and large-sized Jenga to get the party going! The fun continued all day, and, after sunset the couple enjoyed their reception featuring a Hawaiian shaved ice truck.

Maui turned out to be the perfect island to make the couple’s vision of a more intimate wedding come to life.

The newlyweds want to advise those looking into a Maui destination wedding to enjoy the day together and to “Take a step back and take a look around you! Have fun and get creative with your wedding theme.”

After all, the island lovers proved a tropical, house wedding is achievable with a little love and a lot of trust in the process.
