With Maui’s Kahoʻolawe and Molokini islands peeking through a veil of mist in the distance, Kayli and Robbie stood hand in hand on the lawn of the Andaz Wailea Resort, ready to pledge their lives to one another. Surrounded by family, friends, and a view that looked like a watercolor painting come to life, their Hawaii wedding was everything they dreamed it would be.

A Destination That Felt Like Home

For Kayli and Robbie, choosing Maui was less about finding a destination and more about returning to a place that already held so much meaning. “It was the destination of our first vacation together,” Kayli shares. “We both grew up visiting the island, and we’ve always loved the beach.”

When they discovered the Andaz Wailea Resort, the couple instantly knew it was the one. The property’s blend of modern luxury and natural beauty set the perfect stage for their relaxed yet refined aesthetic. “The Andaz made everything effortless,” Kayli says. “Their team, along with our planner Alexis Huggins of Love Struck Co., made us feel like we were in the best hands. Honestly, we’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.”

Meaning in the Details

While the sweeping ocean views provided their own décor, Kayli and Robbie made sure every detail carried heart. The floral design by Bella Bloom incorporated creamy white blooms and lush greenery that echoed the island’s landscape, while soft candlelight gave the evening an ethereal glow.

A standout element was a nod to Kayli’s Japanese heritage: 1,000 hand-folded paper cranes, each lovingly made by her mother and family members in the months leading up to the wedding. In Japanese culture, the cranes symbolize good fortune, longevity, and prosperity in marriage. “Every time I saw them that day, I thought of the care and intention that went into each one,” Kayli says. “It was such a beautiful way to bring my family’s traditions into our celebration.”

Other personal touches included custom DIY signage, place cards, and menus, all designed and crafted by the bride herself. The result was an atmosphere that felt both elevated and deeply personal.

A Ceremony that Felt Like “Us”

Their ceremony, officiated by a close friend, took place against the sound of gentle waves. The couple exchanged handwritten vows, incorporated Hawaiian sayings, and honored local tradition through a lei exchange, a gesture symbolizing love, respect, and unity. Bridesmaids in champagne-toned gowns from Revelry and groomsmen in sleek black tuxes from The Black Tux framed the moment beautifully, while True View Productions captured it all on film.

The overall aesthetic—minimal, modern, and organic—was brought to life flawlessly by Love Struck & Co. and captured intentionally by Caitlin Grace Photograph.

The Celebration

As the sun dipped below the horizon, guests were treated to a reception that balanced effortless island vibes with chic sophistication. The couple’s first dance played under the stars, followed by a lively dance floor led by DJ Felipe “Del”gado Jr. (DJ Del). Guests indulged in a tropical-inspired menu and a cake from the Andaz Wailea Resort, before cooling off with Dole Whip, a playful nod to the island’s sweet side.

The Takeaway

Looking back, Kayli says the key to pulling off a perfect destination wedding is to trust your team and be intentional about where you invest your energy. “Hire a great planner, invest in quality, and build your dream team,” she advises. “If you do that, you’ll actually get to enjoy your day, and that’s what it’s all about.”

From the handmade cranes to the oceanfront vows, every detail of Kayli and Robbie’s Maui wedding told a story of love, family, and connection. It wasn’t just a destination wedding; it was a heartfelt reunion in paradise.
