From the beginning of Victoria and Christopher’s wedding planning journey, the couple knew they wanted to create an unforgettable experience with their family and friends. This Playa Langosta, Costa Rica wedding, inspired by a friend’s wedding and the couple’s desire for sandy scenery offered the ideal island escape.

“It felt like the perfect opportunity to combine a meaningful celebration with a getaway that everyone could enjoy,” says Christopher.

Creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for their guests while away was a top priority. Guests were provided with a curated list of nearby accommodation options. Travel arrangements were handled seamlessly by the couple’s proactive wedding planner, Karen Ogden with Tropical Occasions. Victoria and Christopher’s commitment to guest comfort naturally extended to their choice of venue. Villa Morabeza, a five-star luxury villa, delivers a breathtaking coastal experience with comfort for big groups.

“We dreamed of having a beachside setting for the wedding itself, so finding a venue that offered both a spacious, accommodating environment and a beautiful beachfront location was essential,” says Victoria.

In complement to the natural ambiance of their Costa Rica wedding, the couple opted for tropical flowers and a green and neutral color scheme. The wedding party embraced this as the bridesmaids wore gowns in shades of earthy green while the groomsmen sported sand-colored suits.

Thoughtful, personal touches were sprinkled throughout the day, making the celebration uniquely theirs. Before the ceremony, the couple shared a private first look and vow reading, creating a warm, intimate moment before the festivities began. Additionally, Victoria and Christopher designed a custom wedding logo featured on shot glasses, napkins, and wedding signage, adding a personalized flair to their celebration.

The couple offered a variety of spaces throughout the venue, allowing guests to join the dance floor or lounge in more relaxed areas. Their chef from Rising Tide Catering went above and beyond by customizing each guest’s plate to accommodate dietary needs and allergies.

The ceremony and dinner featured a violinist and piano duo, adding a sophisticated and traditional ambiance to the day. Meanwhile, the energetic vibe of the reception called for vivid pops of orange, an EDM-style DJ, and disco balls, creating a lively and exciting atmosphere. The cultural essence of Costa Rica played a role in their décor choices, with the phrase “Pura Vida,” which translates to “pure life,” serving as a central theme throughout the reception.

“It truly embodies the relaxed and joyful way of life that the locals live by,” says Victoria. “We wanted to honor this spirit in our celebration.”

Looking back, the newlyweds loved everything about their paradisal wedding, describing it as a dream come true. They credit much of their success to hiring local vendors and the expertise of their wedding planner. For couples considering a destination wedding, Victoria and Christopher have one important message:

“Having a local wedding planner was crucial,” says Christopher. “Tropical Occasions’ expertise and local connections were invaluable for managing important aspects and addressing any potential issues. ”
