Tashina and Nathan were living in Poland when they decided to tie the knot at Lyons Farmette in Lyons, Colorado. They weren’t able to see the venue in person until a month before the wedding, but it all fell perfectly into place.

The bride fell in love with Lyons Farmette from afar, admiring photos on blogs and websites. She says the quiet and serene escape took their families away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and the beauty of the greenery and uniqueness of the animals were just positive additions.

While not everything went as planned, it all came together in the end. With many of the guests arriving from out-of-state or out-of-country, many people ended up being late to the wedding, therefore causing the ceremony and the rest of the schedule for the day to be pushed back.

“We resolved this by going with the flow and trying our best to just have a great time,” Tashina said.

A piece of advice Tashina has for couples planning their destination wedding is to not try to do everything alone. Personally, she took on a lot of the Do It Yourself projects by herself, such as putting together flowers (including the garlands on the tables), writing signs, finding decorations and putting together s’mores for the reception.

She took on a lot of these projects not wanting to inconvenience anyone else, but says there’s not enough time and you’re more likely to forget something if you try to take it all on by yourself. She recommends delegating some of the tasks early on in the planning stages because by the day of the wedding, you have more important things on your mind.

One way Tashina delegated was having her mother do a lot of the initial planning while she was still in Poland. She also involved her wedding planner and florist using Facetime and Skype while she was out-of-country.

The bride says planning a destination wedding can be a stressful experience since you might not feel entirely involved in the planning at first, but keeping in contact was a great way to stay involved in the wedding planning.

When the big day finally came, everything fell into place. The venue Tashina fell in love with online came to life and the couple said “I do” at the entirely-outdoor venue, among their closest friends and family, greenery and animals.
