On a recent episode of Destination I Do, The Podca On a recent episode of Destination I Do, The Podcast, we spoke with Conflict Resolution expert @damalipeterman, and asked this tough question… Is it ever okay to “fire” someone from your wedding party? She says, “At the end of the day, no one should be there that’s going to bring you anxiety.” While the term “firing” sounds harsh, you have to keep in mind a couple of things: - Your wedding is one, very important day! - There is so much outside of your control as far as how the event unfolds. If this person is causing you crazy amounts of stress, it’s in your control to ask them to take a step back. BUT, before it gets to the point of needing to fire someone from your wedding party… - Think long and hard about who you want in your wedding party. If someone has caused drama in the last four weddings you went to, maybe this isn’t the time to see if they will act differently just because it’s YOUR wedding. - Give everyone a job. Sometimes conflict arises out of people not knowing what to do/how they can help, so they end up overstepping. And make sure they can handle their role before assigning it to them. Are you in a tricky situation where you’re not sure whether it’s worth it to “fire” someone from your wedding party or not? Either reach out to us (in the comments or DMs), or ask your planner for their advice - they are WELL versed in wedding drama and can help nudge you toward a fitting decision.
