Mark and Nicole loved the idea of having a Caribbean island wedding, but they wanted to steer clear of the norm. Grenada in the West Indies offered them something they hadn’t thought of incorporating in their wedding before: a waterfall.
A ceremony next to the tallest waterfall in Grenada was sure to keep the couple’s wedding idea fresh. Because traveling to this exotic location actually did not cost a fortune, most of the small group of guests were completely on board with the idea.
“I feel had it been in my hometown I would have had to plan more and more people would have come. I liked the small group intimate feel of my wedding,” Nicole says.
Getting to the West Indies did cause a bit of a headache for some. In fact, one of the flights had to land for a medical emergency, which caused a few guests to miss their connection.
However, the couple says, “They arrived the next day a little frustrated, but after some beer and beach fun it was all forgotten.”
Perhaps the most adventurous part of Mark and Nicole’s big day was the hike to the waterfall where they’d say “I do." With no guide needed and only a small fee to get to the falls, the only challenge would be getting everyone up the trail.
“The hiking trail to the destination was easy, but a few people slipped and fell due to mud and poor footwear,” Nicole says.
Aside from the mud, the couple’s wedding day was clean and simple. Ultimately, spontaneity worked best for the duo as they went a week earlier than all of the guests and decided on the waterfall destination.
The newlyweds say when planning your Caribbean destination wedding, “Just relax and allow details to fall into place.” After all, less turned out to be more for this daring duo.
