Designer Aly of Aly Ann Events creates a European aesthetic, transforming the property’s wedding spaces. Read about the inspiration behind this styled shoot below:
With destination weddings put on-hold and travel restrictions in place, my creative nature sought to bring together European romance and botanical artistry in an unexpected setting, Colony 29 in Palm Springs. Although the Southern California desert is best known for hosting festivities like Coachella or Stagecoach, many would be surprised to know most properties offer a blank slate for design.
The color palette featured a variety of gorgeous fall tones and textures. Natalie Gill, founder of Native Poppy, designed a sophisticated and truly memorable ceremony arch that subsequently served as the guest entrance for the evening reception.
Our beautiful bride wore a gown by Galia Lahav from her FW 2021 Couture Collection. The full skirt and delicate sleeves were graceful, yet dramatic as she was whisked away by her groom. Later in the day, our bride changed into a softer, more playful reception gown by Alexandra Grecco displaying a gorgeous floral applique. Our groom complemented his bride with a modern twist on the classic black tuxedo from Friar Tux.
Laura Murray captured the day exquisitely, ensuring each detail was incorporated into the final album. We love what we do and hope that this editorial inspires destination loving couples to pull in a taste of international design.
