1. Choose a location that means something to you as a couple.

Whether you feel comfortable traveling at the moment or not, consider marrying at a location where you made great memories together or perhaps somewhere that connects you to your values as a couple. 

2. DO still send invites!

Even if they are e-vites, guests will have a cute reminder to attend your virtual wedding and something they can add to their fridge collage.

3. Flowers are still an important element.

What is a wedding without flowers? Add a little pizazz with a flower arch or a semi-circle of flowers behind you. The bursts of lively color will add to the majesty of the moment and give your guests more to look at than just your beautiful faces! 

4. Take family heirlooms along.

Incorporating your “something old” can make you feel closer to your family, even if they can’t be there with you in person.

5. Make sure you angle yourselves to where the camera can see you and pick up your audio.

If you really want to go all out (and take away the stress of having to compose the shot), hire a professional! Wedding photographers and videographers are adjusting to these difficult times too, and lots are doing creative things when it comes to virtual weddings.

6. Invite guests to comment and mingle in the chat before and after the ceremony.

Part of what makes a wedding fun is seeing all your favorite people interact with each other, some for the first time ever. That doesn’t have to be absent even though you are having a Zoom wedding.

7. Consider sending cute wedding favors and/or thank you cards for guests to open after the ceremony.

Although this is something typical of traditional weddings, the idea of showing gratitude for those who helped bring you to the day when you married the love of your life is important.

8. Do something to celebrate after.

Bring along a bottle of champagne or your favorite wine to share. Maybe even have a little picnic with takeout from a local restaurant. Either way, the goal is to soak in the moment as much as possible with your brand new spouse!
