When this talented team of Mexican wedding vendors first sat down to envision a styled shoot in the Yucatán Peninsula region, they took inspiration from the dark colors and bold architecture of one of the area’s hottest resorts: Grand Velas Riviera Maya. The result? Well, you’ll just have to see (and read) for yourself! Luckily, Isabella of Isabella Rodriguez Photography has graciously given us a “behind-the-scenes” look at this Midnight in Mexico styled wedding shoot below:
DID: How did this styled shoot first get started (who contacted who to get the ball rolling?)
Isabella: “We wanted to create a different concept other than the ones usually seen for tropical weddings. We also created a team of all-Mexican vendors to showcase national talent.”

DID: What was the inspiration for the theme/style of the shoot? How did the location of the shoot influence it?
Isabella: “We wanted a venue with grand spaces and a luxurious feel and decided Grand Velas was a perfect choice. To maintain our bold theme, Diego Cerón designed a beautiful midnight black dress for this editorial with a gorgeous veil to accompany it.”

DID: Tell us about the ceremony look. What elements were included and why?
Isabella: “For our ceremony montage, we opted for a warm and muted color palette and chose the resort’s beach as the ceremony location. We also did a set-up at the beach with a lovely Victorian-inspired loveseat, which matched perfectly with our bride’s bold red lips.”

DID: How did the team of vendors work together?
Isabella: “We worked seamlessly. I think it’s absolutely great to see how much talent we have in the Yucatán Peninsula wedding industry. Most of the team particularly specializes in destination weddings, so this was a great opportunity to show our work to any unique couples out there who might be looking to get married in the Yucatán Peninsula and Riviera Maya areas.”

DID: What was your favorite part of the shoot and why?
Isabella: “Working with such a talented group of vendors. Working at Grand Velas Riviera Maya has always been a pleasure, they always treat everyone so kindly. It’s truly a dream-like resort. Perfect for an unforgettable wedding experience.”
