Caring for Your Engagement Ring

When my husband proposed to me, I had no idea how to take care of a diamond ring. I’m a type B person as well, so I hadn’t thought about how to treat my bling so it’d last a lifetime. Maybe you’re like me, maybe you’re not, but we could all use some tips on how to clean our rings. So here they are…

Tip 1) Get that gunk off with a ring brush or a soft toothbrush.

Over time, all sorts of stuff can build up on your ring like lotion, bits of food (gross), hair products and Lord knows what else! This not only dulls the diamond, but I can’t imagine it’s good for the stone either. Using a gentle brush will help to clean out the smallest of crevices for a diamond looking good as new. We suggest you Try out the ‘Pop, Fizz, Bling’ Brush Jewelry Cleaner by Baublerella because not only is it soft like petals of a rose, but it also works as a great gift. Oh – and the best part – it comes packaged in an adorable pink, mini “champagne” bottle!

Tip 2) A brush won’t do anything for tarnishing, but special polishing cloths will.

Although a ring brush is great for cleaning the crevices of your most adored piece of jewelry, it won’t do much to get that nasty tarnish off of the silver, gold and/or metal band. Our recommendation here is to find yourself a long-lasting anti-tarnish polishing cloth. For ease, try out the glitzy glove anti-tarnish jewelry polishing mitt by Bauberella as well.

Tip 3) While caring for your ring is quite important, don’t forget to simply enjoy it and wear it as much as possible.

Rings aren’t necessarily the cheapest, so it’s my theology that if you’ve dreamed of owning bling like yours forever, wear it. In other words, don’t be afraid to wash dishes with it. (I know, Taboo!) Don’t be afraid to eat some messy finger food. If your ring is insured (which it ALWAYS should be), you’ll have little to worry about when it comes to life wearing on it.

Now, this is reminding me I haven’t cleaned my ring in a while… better hop to it!
