Kate and Kevin met in 2014 after matching on a dating app. They quickly realized they both grew up in the same area and had a bunch of mutual friends. Itās safe to say the couple hit it off because seven years later, they said āI doā at a private estate in Hillsborough, California.
Actually, the coupleās original plans had them tying the knot in Maui. But, after two attempts to plan a Hawaiian wedding (both canceled due to COVID) Kevin and Kate decided to move their soiree to the mainland.
āAt this point,ā the couple says, āwe had been working with Erica, our wedding planner who is based in Maui, for one and a half years, and we were hoping she could still do our wedding in California. Luckily, she was available and she helped us plan the June wedding in just three short months!ā
Even though Erica had never planned a wedding in CA before, Kate tells us the planner made this daunting task look easy. She helped the couple locate āthe most amazing vendors.ā On top of that,Ā Ericaās sense of style and creativity meant the couple could achieve the vibe they were going for.
āIn Spring 2021,Ā KateĀ called to tell me that she could no longer travel to Maui for her wedding,ā says Erica Goldsmith, Owner of Couture Events. āWe both shed some tears, but by the end of the conversation, it was decided that my team and I would fly to California to finish creating her wedding day. Between the pandemic, lifeās obstacles, and re-scheduling the wedding three times, there was no way I was going to leaveĀ KateĀ hanging.ā
KateĀ andĀ Kevinās original wedding design had a laid-back, very Californian aesthetic, with beach-toned neutrals and hints of tropical colors. The design transformed beautifully into a pool-side reception surrounded by redwood trees. Heath Ceramics fromĀ Theoni Collection were set on farmhouse tables from Hensley Event Resources. Adelaide tablecloths and runners fromĀ La Tavola Fine Linens added some texture to the tablescape. Florist Jenny Rinzler fromĀ This Humble Abode incorporated subtle nods to Maui into her florals.
āIt was important to keep some aspects of our Hawaiian wedding. For example, we still had an outdoor wedding and brought in some of the Hawaiian touches like orchids in the floral arrangements, pops of color, and fun tropical cocktails,ā the couple says.
Even though the ceremony and cocktail hour were no longer oceanside, the day ended up being a sweet, intimate garden party. And, at last, Kate and Kevin got to celebrate their Hillsborough wedding with loved ones!
